Message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the staff, management and myself, I would like to welcome you to our school website. I hope that the content and the photographs that we have included on our website will help to give you a taste of what it is like to be part of St. Mary’s School Kabete. We are very proud of our school and recognize that a true picture cannot be portrayed in a prospectus and so prospective parents are warmly invited to make an appointment to visit the school prior to registering their child. I have always strongly believed that having the opportunity to educate children is a rare privilege that brings in a responsibility to provide a holistic education that prepares the pupils for an ever- changing world which comes along with its challenges.

Being a church school, we are multi-faith and multi-racial where people respect each other and respect the differences in the society.

Our pupils are educated to be resilient, believe in themselves, be inquisitive and ambitious and by doing so, be high achievers in any aspects of life. Our children understand that Caring and Sharing is important to us all and sets the standard for the way that all individuals are valued and cared for. At St. Mary’s School Kabete, we are never complacent and we never stand still. We have hard-working staff, parents, children and management who work together to achieve a shared vision for a school community where everyone can feel safe and happy and can achieve their personal, social and academic potential. I am always delighted to welcome new parents to our school and I hope that whilst you are with us both you and your child will take the opportunity to be involved in all that the school has to offer. I look forward to working in partnership with you as together we guide your child through the early years of their education.

Very Best Wishes

Veronicah Mungai- Headteacher

Nursery Mission

It is the mission of St. Mary's Kindergaten and Primary school to;

Children are encouraged to grow and learn at their own rate through developmental, hands-on activities. A child’s play is believed to be the foundation for meaningful, early learning experiences. Our mission comes to light through the joint efforts of St. Mary’s Church, our Council, a strong parent partnership and the dedication of our Christian Nursery School Staff.

Our Philosophy… We believe that all children deserve love, guidance and respect for their individuality. We believe that children learn and grow to their fullest potential in an environment that supports their spiritual, physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. We believe that children learn about themselves and the world around them through meaningful interactive experiences. Our classrooms as well as outdoor areas are child-oriented and designed to encourage exploration and discovery.

Our Goals… We strive to give children a rich knowledge base while encouraging language and listening skills, developing self-help skills, promoting positive interactions, and a healthy self-image.
St. Mary’s children will find here a safe place to express their thoughts and feelings, use their creativity and imaginations and begin a life-long love of learning.

At St. Mary’s School Kabete it is our job to give the children the guidance, tools, and encouragement they need to prepare for their future--and, of course, to have a wonderful time in the present.

We create age–appropriate classroom learning environments based on the fundamental premise that children are active learners. Our curriculum plans are designed around interest themes and presented through a variety of indoor as well as outdoor activities.

We emphasize basic cognitive skills and problem-solving activities, helping children apply what they learn to their own life experiences. Helping a child relate information to new situations promotes higher level thinking skills. These skills are the building blocks of independent learning.

We encourage the children to be considerate of the needs, feelings and interests of their friends, teachers, parents and siblings. We encourage the children to find creative and successful ways to solve problems and to express their feelings.

We provide an enriching, accepting atmosphere for the children. Our goal is to build strong feelings of self esteem. This is a valuable life skill that will carry the child well beyond his years of formal education.

We offer a variety of schedules, either full or part time.

The school day is from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

School staff

1 John 2:15-17
(15) Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them. (16) For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. (17) The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
